COURSE DESCRIPTION

ANNOUNCING A 3-DAY PRACTICAL LIMS COURSE
MARCH 8-10, 2006 ORLANDO, FLORIDA
(PRIOR TO PITTCON)

Saving money and avoiding the mistakes commonly associated with attempts at laboratory computerization is the primary focus of this course.

Effective management of laboratory data is an essential prerequisite to controlling costs and operating a laboratory in a profitable manner. Laboratories today handle a tremendous flow of information, from maintaining client lists to sample management, tracking, and analyses, providing statistical information on analytical methodology and quality control, to providing automated invoicing, on-line safety information, and corporate profit and loss statements. Coordinating the flow and maintaining the quality of these data is a major challenge to the manager of today. Obtaining the most value for your money is everyone's goal, but even more important in this instance, is acquiring the best LIMS for your company's needs. It is an unfortunate fact that you and your company will have to live with mistakes in this area for years. Selecting the wrong LIMS for your company is not an error easily corrected. The best LIMS for one company, even within the same industry, is not necessarily the best solution for your company.

The course provides useful insights into efficient computer planning and management, with specific guidelines on how to plan for, select, implement, validate, and maintain ongoing management of the optimum computer system for your laboratory. Ample time is allowed to address individual needs.

Vendor demonstrations and vendor participation is an integral part of this course. These presentations greatly benefit the participants by learning what to look for, questions to ask, "real world" examples and solutions, and how to create "win-win" solutions when purchasing.
